The YMCA Short Course Championships return to the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex April 7-10, 2010. One of the most exciting swimming events in the country, the YMCA Short Course Championships are highlighted by great swimming, passionate fans and, of course, the opening night parade. This year's theme: Hollywood.

Day 4: The final day of competition. A little drizzle didn't keep the crowd quiet at the final night of finals from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The 1650yd freestyle kicked off the night with impressive swims by Sarasota's YMCA swimmer Danielle Valley and senior Alex Miller. Danielle Valley took her first gold medal of the meet in a time of 16:22.88. Valley is all smiles with Molly Sullivan in her exclusive on-deck interview. Sixteen year-old Haley Lips had an incredible race vs York County YMCA's Hali Flickinger where she took the win in a time of 1:58.97, only .01 ahead of Flickinger. A great women's 200yd butterfly race.
After a timing error it was made known that Wisconsin's Leah Pronschinske did indeed break the record in the Women's 100yd breastroke with a time of 1:01.43. Pronschinske's 100yd breastroke record time is captured on-demand on Swimnetwork.
It was an interesting night for a certain backstroker from the Triangle Area North Carolina YMCA. During the Women's 400yd Medley Relay B Final Sabrina Benson beat the 100yd backstroke record in a time of 53.86. Check out Sabrina Benson and her 400yd Medley Relay team on-demand.
The team rankings are now finalize. Congrats goes to the Sarasota Florida YMCA for being our combined championship team this year.

Day 3: Women Make Their Mark: The weather held out for another perfect night at finals. And, it was a huge night for the women swimmers. Hali Flickinger from York County Pennsylvania YMCA started out the night on a high note breaking the 400yd IM record in a time of 4:12.51. Due to a timing discrepancy that was later resolved by officials she was confirmed as the national record holder. Watch Hali Flickinger's race on-demand on Swimnetwork.
Shortly after, senior Margo Geer took her fourth victory of the meet as she owned the women's 100yd freestyle and set a meet record in a time of 48.89. Fast swimming is one thing she does amazing well and Springfield Family YMCA is happy to have her on their team. Be sure to take a look at Margo Geer's 100yd freestyle meet record race.
Middle Tyger YMCA from the state of South Carolina training has paid off. David Ingraham took his first gold of the meet in the men's 400yd IM. The seventeen year-old Ingraham talks to Molly Sullivan in an on-deck interview about what this victory means to him and his team. Check out swimmer David Ingraham's interview. Day 2: YMCA Swimmers Have Big Nights: Once again the crowd was dancing in the stands while watching the great races of the night. Sixteen year-old Nicholas Caldwell from Sarasota Florida YMCA set another championship record in the 1000yd freestyle to start off the night. Schroeder Wisconsin YMCA's Mitchell Friedemann has had a huge last YNat meet, the eighteen year-old had another victory in the 100yd butterfly. This captures a third championship this week. He had the time to catch up with Swimnetwork's Molly Sullivan on deck after this victory. Here is what Mitchell Friedemann had to say for this race.
KC Moss had an awesome swim in the 200yd breaststroke with a time of 2.12.78. KC Moss is all smiles after the race in her exclusive swimnetwork interview.
And star swimmer Margo Geer cruised through the water tonight to take the gold in the 200yd freestyle. This is also her third championship during this meet, her last YMCA Short Course Nationals. Watch Margo Geer race to her gold medal in a time of 1.46.20.

Day 1: Four Championship Records Fall - It was a beautiful night in Ft. Lauderdale. The crowd was pumping and the excitment of the first night filled the air. The first race of the night, the women's 100yd backstroke had a championship record by Margo Geer of Springfield Ohio YMCA with a time of 54.04. You can watch Margo Geer swim here.
Molly Sullivan took control of the deck interviews for Swimnetwork and caught Nicholas Caldwell after setting the 500yd championship record in 4.20.28. Check out Nicholas Caldwell's on deck interview with Molly.
It was exciting times for the 50yd freestyles with Mitchell Friedemann taking his second victory of the night and setting his first championship record in a fast time of 22.33.
