Georgia Women Retain Top Spot in Swimming Poll

Evanston, Illinois - The University of Georgia women’s swimming and diving team started out the new year the way the exited 2009 – ranked first in the CSCAA / CollegeSwimming.com Division I Poll.

The Bulldogs captured nearly a third of all firstplace votes following a busy weekend that saw them down third-ranked Texas. Despite the loss, the Longhorns earned the respect of voters and moved ahead of Stanford to rank third.

Arizona University remained in second. The Wildcats will have that ranking put to the test this weekend when they travel to both Stanford and California (ranked fourth and fifth respectively) before welcoming Texas.

Just eight teams changed position in the latest poll, though fifty-three teams earned votes in the dual meet poll.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, Inc. (CSCAA), is the oldest coaches association in the United States of America.
