An official statement from USA Swimming has been issued regarding ongoing anti-doping proceedings involving a USA Swimming athlete.

Statement from USA Swimming Executive Director Chuck Wielgus

“USA Swimming has been notified of the anti-doping proceeding involving a U.S. athlete. The matter is being handled by USADA and we are hopeful that the matter will be resolved expeditiously. Out of respect for the hearing process, USA Swimming will have no further comment at this time.”

While I feel bad for Lara and Tara, it's also no surprise to me that the New York Times has to put out a negative article about "the system". I also won't be reading the comments from the readers who don't know a damned thing about USA swimming. It's a shame what this story has done to swimming's nearly golden repuation going into the Olympics.
Is it really necessary to try to implicate an entire group of athletes completely unrelated to Jessica Hardy and Advocare and who have had no positive test results?
Looks like Tara Kirk has escalated with this story in the New York Times: http://olympics.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/25/american-swimmer-feels-betrayed-by-the-system/index.html?hp [Since this site doesn't support HTML in the comments section, you need to copy and paste the URL to see the Times story.]
Yesterday, the Advocare site had a full page Jessica Hardy's testimonial about the efficacy of their products. Today their site has been scrubbed clean of any Jessica mentions. Speaking of supplements, look at the big guns who use Puresport Products. Hope they don't have any contaminated batches. http://www.puresport.us/endorsements
