Swim Network does some nice stuff. But there's one thing you engage in that's a huge turnoff: autorun videos that blast the user at sign in. You should consider eliminating this user-alienating web practice.
well... we can obviously see who i like the best!!!! not only is that white speedo amazing!! i also believe that had lochte not been sick at the Olympics for the 400 IM he would have definitely given michael phelps another close run at missing the 8 gold medals!!
i also vote mary DeScenza all the way!!! she's always worked so hard and this year is her year to shine!!!
SwimVoodoo,
Yes! Totally forgot to mention that Chad La Tourette was swimming at WUGs, so he won't factor into this meet. Look for him to make noise in the future. And you've got a good point about Scott Clary, but for the purpose of this article, distance=freestyle distance. (But yeah, the 400 IM is definitely a distance event). And you're right, Sutton is capable of sliding in there this year, and while Hoff's times haven't been the best yet this year, we think her talent is that far above and beyond everyone else (besides Ziegler, when she's in shape). Good points all the way around.
Chloe Sutton has an excellent opportunity to make the team. She swam well in Mission Viejo a few weeks ago. I would not be surprised to see her win the 800 in Indy.
I'm not expecting too much from Ziegler. She's only now just getting back into the swing of things. She swam in Mission Viejo too. Her times were solid given that she's just returned to the pool but well off the in-season times she would typically swim. Who knows what her training is like these days though. She may just be looking to improve from a few weeks ago rather than actually making any noise this summer. I would definitely not count her out for next year and London though.
Hoff is a bit of an unknown. She has done some hard training this year and hasn't put up the mid season times we're accustomed to seeing from her. But she's been taking a different approach with Bob so it will be interesting to see how she does.
It appears that Chad LaTourette who has been under 15min has decided to go to Belgrade to compete at WUGS. As for the 400IM I think Lochte should come through provided he swims it. Margalis will be there but don't overlook Scott Clary, the NCAA champion who should be much faster than his 4:14 seed time. I think Bal is going to nab one of those back spots this time around.
Hi Swimgirl,
Glad you liked the videos.
What I'm referring to is not putting too much stress on your knees. Swimmers are notorious for overusing their quadriceps and hip flexors (the front part of the thighs) due to all of the kicking they do. So, when you guys get out of the water to do dryland, the last thing you want to do is too much quad/ hip flexor work. Obviously, squats, lunges and exercises like these involve the front of the thighs quite a bit. What you want to do then is focus on pushing through your heels as much as possible when doing these types of drills. This will help activate the glutes (butt) and hamstrings (backs of the thighs) and give the knee joint more stability.
Hope that helps. And please, keep those questions coming!
Best,
Mike
Don't be afraid... those folks who may look like big, bad Masters swimmers are there for many of the same reasons you are. Chances are that most if not all of them are glad you're there! One of the best parts of Masters is the social aspect, so make some new friends. Honestly, the distraction of some social interaction makes practices often hurt a lot less for me :-)
@Andrew Thanks so much andrew for always answering my comments...:)looking forward to watchin live stream and I have a blog im doing to:)

In my opinion another up and comer for the men's sprint events is Jimmy Feigen of Texas. He was right behind Nathan Adrian in both events this year at NCAA's. I think he has a really good shot to make the team as well.
